We went camping again... and this is what we found ! A snake! No, just kidding. This snake was part of a demonstration we attended (while camping) and we got to touch it. This is W with the snake. We learned how to tell poisonous snakes from non-poisonous ones (at least in the MO area) which actually came in beneficial when I found a snake in my pool after we came home. I learned that since my snake was not floating on the surface of the water (only his head), and because his eyes were round and not slitted, he was most likely not poisonous. Which is always good to know, but sort of irrelevant since I killed him anyway. Sorry- no uninvited bugs or creatures in my domain-God, DID give us dominion over the creatures of the earth you know, so if they can't stay away from me-they don't get to inhabit the earth with me! The girls thought it was really fascinating and wanted to see his guts an everything (icky) and wondered why he kept twitching after he was clearly dead (head and body no longer attached to each other). Anyway, the snake demonstration proved helpful-ha!
Here is T making pancakes on the outdoor grill each morning. She had a ball. She did a really good job too. We also learned from our uncle who was with us (and aunt, and Dan's parents), that if you put listerine in a spray bottle and spray it all around the campsite-on the ground etc-it keeps the bugs away. After the first night we tried this and it really did seem to help. So take note, a cheap, non-DEET way to stay unbitten by the mosquitos while outside. We went to Roaring River, MO (again), and after having gone there each summer for over 5 years, we finally came across a little place that is WITHIN the campground where we can not only buy pizza but get ice cream cones for 50cents a dip! Can you believe it?! Not only a great deal, but so fun to walk over and get some ice cream while camping. So happy to have found out about this-we'll definately be utilizing their services in the future! :)
This is T's first day of school in the third grade. She picked out her outfit and we did her hair all up. She seems to have a really nice teacher and is already learning to write in cursive. How fun!
Here is W in a new dress. I thought it was so cute.

Grant was super-impressed with his girl-friend W. and her fish! (He had bug-eyes where she was holding up the whole stringer and said "she really caught all those fish?") BTW...don't let the term girl-friend scare Dan. I just meant it in the sense of his friend that is a girl! (hee hee)
Anyway, very cute--looks like you had a lot of fun! I would LOVE to take our kids and do something like that! Let me know when the next time they do this is!
