catch up

As u know, this is more of my "personal/family" blog. I tend to not do posts unless I have pictures to post with it, to help tell the story. Consequently, I don't have any new posts because I haven't uploaded new pictures lately ( I do this at the end of every month, to keep them organized in my computer system). However, I do have some little tidbits to share with you... I have planted my first veggie garden. Don't get too excited, its pretty small. I mean REALLY small. Its above ground in a little planter box thing that I think is about 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. I planted zucchini, carrots, parsley, a tomato plant, cilantro, cucumbers, and yellow squash. Its a little crowded in there but hopefully everything will grow. I bought pumpkin seeds on a whim (W asked for them) and I thought "yea that would be fun to grow the pumpkins then the girls can get them out of the garden instead of buying them at the pumpkin patch this fall". HOWEVER, I didnn't read the label till I got home. I says u have to plant them fifteen (FIFTEEN) feet apart! My whole garden isn't even 15 feet big. I guess they take over too, so its just not going to happen this year in this garden. I may plant a few seeds at the edge of our yard/forest and see if they grow there. If I could keep them in the rough area, and not have them stretch out into the yard, that would be ok, but I just don't know how easy that will be to accomplish. Anyone have any suggestions? It would be fun for the girls to have pumpkins they grew, that's for sure :)

We have pre-registered W for pre-k in the fall. She is very excited and looking forward to going to school. Mommy, on the other hand, is a bit melancholy... its my youngest little girl, going off to school. They are growing up, aaahhhhh. So sweet, yet so ... something. I can't put my finger on the word to describe it, but if u are a mom, u know what I mean. She said the other night at dinner "mom, when I go to school I'm not going to talk much". I said, "oh really. Why is that?" She answered, "because I don't want to pull a ticket" LOL (that's what happens in T's class when the kids get in trouble for talking, they pull a ticket off the wall, and after 3 they get in big trouble. But at our house, they get in trouble for just one, so she knows she wants to behave. I thought it was so funny to hear her already planning out her school game plan. :)
Anyway, that's it for now. If you are interested in my fitness blog, you can check out the new posts here.

I'm gonna have to come check out your garden! I've never seen one above ground but I've been reading about them lately and that sounds very cool. Way better for weed control, that's for sure! We plant SO much, that'd never work for us...but I'm anxious to see how your stuff does! I would DEFINITELY plant the pumpkin seeds at the edge of your property. If they grow--great. If not, no big loss. right!?!

Very cute about W. and her school plans. Grant was just telling me the other day that he has never been on yellow or red. At their school they have stop lights. If they are on green--they are good. If they get on yellow, that's like "caution" or one warning. Then if they get on "red" they get in big trouble. He is so proud that he has never even been on yellow. (and mom's proud too!)
I feel the same feeling about Grant for next year. He'll be in ALL DAY school! Crazy! I've been wanting him to be in all-day for a long time....but now that it's happening, I feel sorta sad...or that same feeling that you described feeling! :o) bitter sweet I guess!
