The girls had a great time, and so did I. They were getting along and having a great day. Of course it probably helped that almost the entire day was fun stuff for them, but either way, they got along great and I loved it.
We started the day with a trip to my gym for two classes (they aren't thrilled about going here, especially T now that she is older. But I found out that one of the instructor's 10yr old daughters was there today too, so hopefully she'll make a new friend and will enjoy it more and not be bummed about going this summer). Afterwards we went to Which Wich for lunch (I had a Groupon coupon) for the first time, it was really good, and to my immense enjoyment, the kids LOVED it! We then went to the Children's Museum in our town (again Groupon Coupon -see a pattern here) They played and played and played here for over 3 hours! We only left because they were closing! They were having such a ball they would have played even longer. We LOVE the Children's Museum in Denver, which we try to go to every time we are there. Ours is nowhere near that one in size or activities, but the girls don't mind. They put their MINDS to work and those creative juices get flowing and the next thing you know they are a doctor, hairdresser, magician, or a store keeper. You name it, they embodied the role today :)
They had such fun. There is even a new rock climbing wall that we all got to enjoy (yes, me too! and yes, its harder than it seems, but still very fun!) Included in our groupon, we got to climb it all we wanted, so we did that first and I was really proud of the girls. T went almost all the way to the top, and W, who at first didn't want to do the big wall, got on board after watching us do it. Here are some pictures of all the fun they had...

When we finally did leave, I surprised them and took them for fro-yo at Orange leaf (had coupons!) because they had behaved so well and gotten along together so great. Of course, as usual they got more than they could eat, but since I am on a mission to lose a few pounds before I head to Vegas I didn't even eat their leftovers (!) We then ran to Sam's for a couple items and headed home where they promptly jumped in the pool before dinner! Perfect end to the perfect first day of summer!
Tomorrow I have to go to work, but fortunately they will be able to stay with Grandma instead of hanging out with me at the shop tomorrow, so they will still get to jump in the pool and have fun. We have lots of things on the agenda for this summer so I expect to have a blast of a time and I'm sure it will all pass too quickly. There are some cheap and free things our town is offering this summer for kids, so we are planning on utilizing them. Fortunately we have a pool, so that in itself is a great summer activity especially since it gets really hot here. Plus, our library has a program they enjoy, free movies and $1 movies at several theaters around town, T also has her cooking classes that we need to arrange, swim lessons for W for only one week, T goes to Church Camp next week, the ice cream plant puts on a fun event they enjoy this month, plus free bowling, and of course I'm sure they will talk me into taking them ice skating at least once this summer (they love it!). I've still got to work at least one full day a week and we'll have trips to my gym, but I usually try to plan fun things around that (like today) so that they can't complain too much about going there :) And even when we don't go to an 'event', we have our pool, so how bad can that be? lol I think its going to be a great summer and I'm looking forward to enjoying it! I just wish my hubby could be on 'summer break' with us so that he could partake in all the fun :) But he is busy 'running the world' (or at least our corner of it), so that we CAN have all this fun, so I THANK HIM IMMENSLY for that! Hope all of you are having fun too, and if you're not, take my cue and see what's happening in your town and hop right in! :)
Have a great summer!!!!
