3rd grade field day

All the third grade classes in our town participated in a field day at the track a week or two before school let out for summer. Here are some photos of T having fun on that day. Jump rope was one of the contests, as well as a relay race.

Here she is running a race (100 meter maybe?), she won her heat-yea!, but notice how she's looking down at the ground? She ran the whole race looking down to the side on the ground. We asked her what she was doing and she said she was bored and wanted to look at something so she looked at the white line of the lane (????) ok. A bit strange, but I guess u do what u gotta do lol. We thought maybe she was worried about getting DQ'd or something for stepping on the line, but I guess that wasn't it. Crazy.

The running long jump.

The hurdles. Aren't these little hurdles cute? :) She won this heat too. She was so bummed at the end of the day though when she didn't get a bunch of awards for all her 'wins'. I had to explain to her that she may have won her 'heat', but that because there were so many heats the other winners might have had faster times than her, that's why its always important to try your best, not just try to go faster than the person behind you. If she had pushed harder she may have been faster than the other heat winners. Oh well, as she gets older she'll understand it I'm sure. She still had a great day and lots of fun with her friends.
