Christmas decorations

Here is a little bit of my Christmas decorating for the downstairs part of the house this year. We always put our little village on the mantel with the stockings hanging below. The fireplace is flanked by the two trees and there is a huge home-made bow over the fireplace but the picture below doesn't do it justice. Doesn't show it very well, just looks like a blob in the picture. Its actually very pretty in real life :)

Her is a close up of the handrail. Ribbon wraps around all the way up on both rails, with gold pinecones hanging down between each spindle. There are also huge bows at the top and bottom of the beginning and ending of the handrails.

WOW! You are SO NOT coming to my house during Christmas! Ha ha...but really...I do like 1/10th the quality of decorating that you do! Quality AND quantity actually! I have one tree, one measly boring green garland running up the staircase rail and a few knick-knacs strategically placed. My Willow Tree Navity (which I LOVE) is crammed onto an end table where it really doesn't fit but I insist on putting it out. OH well...such is (this stage) of my life.
Your stuff looks beautiful and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the girls' pink and purple trees! W. is such a natural little model!

Oh...haha..on Friday I made a purchase that I was really nervous about because I was trying SO HARD to decipher "what would Rene say". ha ha I was thinking..."I know this is NOT a "need"..but it IS something I've been wanting for like 9 years AND it is on sale for 75% off, which is like unheard of for this store (Pottery Barn)...BUT...we really don't have ANY extra money right now. It was really hard...but I bought it anyway because it was only $25 and I knew I'd more than likely NEVER come across a deal like this again. By the way, I'm sure you're wondering what IT is...well, it's matching stockings. The ones they have at Pottery Barn Kids are just SOOOO adorable and high-quality and I've wanted them ever since I was pregnant with Brooklyn! They're normally $19 each...but I got them for $5 each! (they were on sale AND I had a coupon). Now for the first time in the history of my family, we have pretty, matching stockings! So...was that really bad? I didn't think that $25 was really going to "make or break us" so I did it.

Oh and one more last thing...our church is offering a Financial Seminar by that guy--the president of that Credit union (can't remember his name) anyway...starting on Jan. 20th for six weeks. We are DEFINITELY going. I can't wait!
