Here is a picture of the gingerbread house the girls and I made this year. Every year starting about 3 years ago, I buy a kit (no homemade gingerbread walls for me!) and the girls and I put it together and decorate it. As u can tell from the photo they had their hands fully immersed in the decorating :) They like doing it and it has become a fun tradition. Each year its a bit different. Of course they want to eat all the candy as we do it and I am usually the scrooge who won't let them, but this year I figured what the heck, and let them eat (almost) as much as they wanted. I figure I gotta let them have some fun memories of making these things instead of it being a crappy memory where "mom never let us eat any of it". They are kids, they want the candy more than the decorating. So this year I figured the memory was more important than their teeth (although I did make them brush afterwards) ;) Hope you had a wonderful Christmas enjoying the celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Rich, delicious, elegant, and easy to make. Two- or three-ounce servings
are sufficient. Can be made in a food processor, but it makes cleaning up
difficul...

okay, your gingerbread house looks WAY better than ours and I WAS the mean mom who didn't let the kids eat any or do anything except follow the directions exactly. hmph!
I let my boys eat all the candy they wanted...and now since it's after Christmas, they are eating the entire house piece by piece, like Hansel and Gretel. Does that make me the super cool mom? =)
