The tile went down, and even though this isn't the tile I would have preferred (Dan gets final say on most house stuff these days since I picked out everything when we initially built our house. Since all that stuff is now out of style (green carpeting), Dan doesn't trust my choices anymore lol). Anyway, even though its not the darker brown I liked better, I think it looks pretty good and the grout choice matches really well. I didn't want the grout to be too dark (too many lines) but didn't want it too light (dirt collector). All in all, I'm liking it.
This set of cabinets (6 in all) is in the 'bike area' of the converted garage. (There will be doors on them, it just wasn't finished being installed). This is where I will have a neat and tidy place to store all my paint, pool stuff (except for chlorine of course), gardening stuff, miscellaneous everything!
The doorway into the walk in closet here shows the built in cabinet which will have shelves (filled with baskets), and drawers (for hats/gloves/etc, all accessible to little hands). The hanging jackets go on either side but those rods aren't up yet.
This is one of the "locker areas". Not fully enclosed like school lockers. But it has a seating area to put on shoes. Cubbies underneath to store shoes. It will have hooks on the wall behind to hang bags/purses/jackets. Then above it has cabinets with shelves just for storage.
I'm getting pretty excited about this being completed soon since it is all coming together now. I love it. We've got to move some lights and pick out light fixtures, but most everything else is already 'decided' upon (paint and stain colors).
This is the 'garage refrigerator' area and a cubby on each side for the girls to each keep their stuff and backpacks (HOPEFULLY these cubbies will end the current situation we have of coats/shoes/backpacks being strewn threw the house from the door to wherever they finally stopped ) :)
This is the garage bathroom, which is now in the mudroom. A nice cabinet will hold the sink as well as a "head-knocker" (as its called in the cabinet industry) over the toilet. (Which will go on that round hole on the right side).
I am very thankful that we own a cabinet shop and have such quick easy access to getting these cabinets made. They did a great job and I can't wait to see them stained. (They are Knotty Alder in case you were wondering the wood species).
