My new car!

So the other day my husband calls me and tells me he bought a car today and is bringing it home for me to see. I knew he was seriously looking at the 2008 Challengers recently so I figured he must have finally found 'the one' he wanted. He has a 1973 Sublime Green Challenger that he has owned since  about  1994. In fact I wish I had planned this better, I'd have scanned a picture of it in its original condition (falling apart piece of metal) so you could see the changes he's made over the years. He loves cars. He likes to race them, and build them. The '73 has been on ongoing project of his for over 15 years. Now you might wonder why it would take so long to finish a car. Here's the shortened version of that story...
He bought the car when we lived in Vegas and was just beginning to rebuild it. We then moved away from Vegas in 1998, but at that time the car was actually at the painter's being repainted. It wasn't ready when we moved, so we left it there with the understanding that we would certainly be back for it. About a year later we drove back to Vegas with a trailer, picked up the car and drove it back to our new residence. At about this time we had begun rock-climbing with some Jeeping friends. (I loved this! Huge adrenaline rush climbing up a cliff, especially when most of the other jeeps can't tackle it). This meant that Dan was spending all his free time building and re-building rock-crawling goliaths (ohhhh, they were so fun...can u tell I miss them). Anyway, when our first child was born we sort of phased out of that activity and Dan went back to his first love, drag racing. So for the past several years he has been working on race cars, with an occasional 'season' here and there working on his classic cars as well. Recently, he decided he was going to get serious about the '73 Challenger again and finally finish it. So he has had it re-painted again, and is doing all sorts of things to it (I can't even begin to explain what's he's doing or has done, but its lots and lots of stuff). When he decided to keep the '73 and finish it, his plan of getting a new Challenger to go along with it resurfaced. (Dodge brought back production of the Challenger in 2008 for all those die-hard Mopar fans). So that is what he has been doing lately, working on the '73 and researching '08 models to find the one he wanted.
Well, this phone call confirmed that he had finally found the one he wanted. We had talked about what colors we liked and if we wanted stripes or not, and other misc. things. I didn't know what one he had found, but when he drove home that night in it ....
I was so excited!!!!!!!
Its orange (my favorite color), with black stripes up the hood. It looks so cool. Its amazing. Take a look for yourself.
The fuel door is even classic- I think its really cool

My first view of the car... ooohhhh its a baby! I love it! I knew it was orange, but I didn't know it had the awesome black racing stripes till he brought it home. Love, love, love it!

Lots of power, but unfortunately my hubby wants to add a Supercharger to it to make it even faster with more power. We'll see.

It even has these cool orange stripes on the seats!

This says "First Edition: 1805-6400" This means it was the 1805th car off the assembly line out of the 6400 that were made when this car, The Challenger, was brought back into production in 2008. Pretty neat.

Really neat navigation system, touch screen, and retractable screen that loads CD's behind it. Lots of high tech stuff in there Dan and I don't know anything about. lol

Its a beauty! LOVE this car! My favorite color. Its fast. Its gorgeous!
So as you can tell from the pictures, its gorgeous!!!!! I love it. I immediately decided this shouldn't be HIS car, but should be MINE :)
Besides, he already has a green one, so wouldn't it make sense for me to have the orange one?  :)
Some day we'll park them side by side and get a picture of the 'pair'.  I know he really likes them, and the truth is... I DO TOO!  Especially after I took it for a drive. Yowza! This thing is so amazingly fast, its awesome! However, I need a safe place to drive it so that I don't get a ticket. That car is too fast for me to drive without getting a ticket :(
Something you may not know about me, but I am an adrenaline junkie, and I love speed. I love the ROAR of the engines at NASCAR -sends shivers down my spine---ooh I love it! And I love going fast. So much so that its pretty sad that whenever I move to a new state I am happy because that means I get a new driver's license that has a clean record (!) yes, that's how sad it is. Although, I must say I have been doing really well over the last several years (can't go THAT fast in a SUV ha ha), and only have one moving violation (on my record), and that was for gliding through a stop sign (when NOONE (except the police officer-oops) was even around!) So all this to say, I need someplace where I can drive this thing and really let it loose to feel that power, but not get a ticket or break the law. So my loving hubby of course suggests that I come out to the dragstrip with him and take it for a spin down the track. Hmmmm? I might just take him up on that, it sure would be fun. Especially if we were racing each other, me in the orange and him in the green ;0

We'll see, but here is a picture of the '73. Its still being worked on that's why its in our garage on the lift. Which by the way, only a true car junkie like Dan would have a garage designated solely for working on cars and even have his own lift installed (!) Like I said, he loves cars. P.S. this part of the garage is the whole reason we did an add-on to our house several years ago, so he could build this garage with a lift in it.
Sometimes, I actually think he's crazy.
But I do like that orange car, so I'll forgive him :)
The '73 still being worked on in Dan's garage.
